McLennan is the first county in the U.S. to get prescription drug discount card program that extends benefit to both uninsured and insured

Waco, TX, April 20, 2010 – BetterRxCard, a free drug discount card program provided by Sarasota, FL-based Genuity Group, LLC, was launched today throughout McLennan County. The discount program is free for county residents, provides an average of 45% savings, and has established over 50 card pickup locations around the county including most local pharmacies.

The card program is designed to assist both uninsured and insured residents in lowering prescription drug costs.  Uninsured residents, those without any prescription insurance, or residents whose insurance does not cover one or more drugs, can use the card at most McLennan County pharmacies and nearly 60,000 around the U.S. and beyond.  Card pickup locations include 33 county drug stores and over 25 other locations like libraries, county offices and city halls.

One of those features making its debut in McLennan County is a first-of-its-kind tool that may double the number of residents the BetterRxCard program can help. The feature, called EquivaMeds, is a patent-pending service that helps users find lower cost drug options that are safe and effective.
